About us
Free, accurate calculators for the trades — built by people who make trade software
Exequtools is a growing library of free calculators and how-to guides for solar, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, construction and landscaping work — sizing, quantities, conversions and costs you can work out in seconds, no sign-up needed.
Built by the people who build trade software
Exequtools is made by Exequtech (Pty) Ltd, the South African team behind ExequtechOS — field-service software that runs job cards, quotes, invoicing and inventory for tradespeople. Building software for the trades every day keeps us close to how jobs are quoted and run, which is how we know which numbers people actually need on site and where the usual rules of thumb quietly go wrong.
Written to match how the job is really done
Every calculator ships with a plain-English guide that explains the method, the assumptions, and the parts people underestimate — waste factors, sub-bases, deratings, safety margins. We write from trade practice and published standards, not generic filler, and we cite the reasoning so you can check it.
Everything runs in your browser
The calculators and document builders do their maths entirely on your device — nothing you type is sent to us, and any PDF you generate is created locally. That means they load fast, work on a patchy site connection, and keep your figures private.
Free, and honest about being estimates
The tools are free and kept that way by unobtrusive advertising. They give you a fast, well-reasoned starting point — but they are estimates for guidance only. Always verify against manufacturer specifications, an engineer where required, and your local codes and regulations.
Who's behind Exequtools
Exequtools is operated by Exequtech (Pty) Ltd, a software company based in South Africa. Our main product, ExequtechOS, is an all-in-one operations platform for trade and field-service businesses — it handles job cards, quoting, invoicing, purchase orders and inventory in one place. Exequtools is a separate, free project from the same team: ExequtechOS runs the back office once a job is won, while these calculators cover the on-site estimating and sizing that comes first. Same trades, same people — built and given away at exequtools.com.
How we work out the numbers
Each tool is grounded in the established method for that trade — geometry and material coverage for quantities, recognised sizing rules and derating tables for electrical, HVAC and solar work, and standard conversions for units. Where a figure depends on a judgement call, such as a waste allowance or a safety margin, we expose it as an input and explain how to choose it in the accompanying guide rather than hiding it in a formula.
We test the calculators against worked examples and refine them as trades tell us where reality differs from the textbook. If you ever get a result that looks wrong, please tell us — that feedback is the single best way the tools improve.
Important: results are estimates
Exequtools gives you a fast, well-reasoned starting point, not a professional design or a substitute for a qualified specialist. Materials, site conditions, product specifications and local regulations vary. Always verify quantities and sizing against manufacturer data and applicable codes, and involve a licensed professional or engineer where the work requires one. See our Terms & Conditions for the full detail.
